GIS APPLICATIONS SPECIALIST 

As a 2018 and 2022 Esri Special Achievement in GIS Award winner, the Geographic Information System (GIS) Office makes maps and manages geographic information for the City of Dubuque.

We can map anything that has a place - hydrants, rental licenses, buildings, and more! The GIS Applications Specialist will assist in building, maintaining, modifying, and using GIS databases; perform custom application development; provide user support and technical expertise; assist in maintaining data, providing training and technical support and in GIS integration and compatibility; and work to enhance and expand the use and knowledge of GIS.

At least four years of professional experience with GIS, the use of computers and related GIS related software, hardware and applications,a Bachelor’s degree in GIS-related field or an equivalent combination of experience and trainingare required. Qualified candidates may be askedto demonstrate proficiencyin the following software and hardware: Esri ArcGIS Desktop applications including both ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro, 10x and ArcGIS Online, Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, as well as Office 365 online applications including SharePoint and OneDrive.
