    The GIS Supervisor provides leadership and manages, plans, and assigns work on GIS projects and tasks. This role oversees the production of reports, maps, data, and applications for internal and external customers and develops methods to leverage GIS data for new applications. As the supervisor of the GIS team, the role motivates and supports the team in their work towards set goals, ensuring the effective use of GIS technology to support organizational decision-making and spatial analysis. The work of this position requires standard core hours of Monday through Friday 9am to 3pm with the possibility of after hours support on critical systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Leads and manages a team of GIS professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members; participates in the selection of staff, provide or coordinate staff training, work with employees to correct deficiencies; communicates with internal and external customers to understand GIS needs and requirements; evaluates, develops, maintains, and implements policies and procedures related to the GIS team including evaluation and optimization of current workflows and processes.

    • Manages the maintenance and updates of GIS software and systems; assumes ownership of GIS user support responsibilities, including providing assistance to GIS users, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring all user concerns are promptly addressed by the team; enforces quality control and assurance processes for GIS data and analyses; conducts regular audits to maintain data accuracy and consistency.

    • Oversees the planning, development, and implementation of GIS projects, GIS applications and GIS tools within the organization; prepares and documents scripts that support database processing and analysis; maintains and documents integrations and interfaces between the City GIS environment and all other City applications; create reports and dashboards of GIS program status and progress and tracking of work order activities.

    Qualifications

    Experience: Five or more years experience with ESRI’s GIS software is required along with three years of supervisory experience.

    Education A bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, computer science, or related field is required. Additional relevant work experience may substitute for education.

    Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver's license and favorable driving record are required.

    Environmental or Physical Demands: This role requires exposure to noise from equipment rooms and possible exposure to a variety of temperatures and environmental conditions. Lifting of up to 35 pounds regularly is also required along with limited amounts of bending, stooping, climbing, and kneeling. Also requires exposure to various chemicals for cleaning and maintaining equipment.

    Position Summary

    The Asset Manager oversees and coordinates the development, implementation and optimization of the asset management program for municipal infrastructure. This role ensures that assets such as streets, storm water systems, traffic control devices, fleet and facilities are effectively managed to optimize their lifecycle, enhance service delivery and align with organizational goals. The Asset Manager works collaboratively with various stakeholders within the City to prioritize projects, ensure regulatory compliance and maintain data integrity.     Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

    • Program Development and Oversight
    • Develop, implement and manage the asset management program, including policies, procedures and best practices.
    • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for asset performance, maintenance and operational efficiency.
    • Develop long-term strategic plans for asset management, incorporating condition assessments, risk management and financial forecasting.
    • Assist supervisors, managers and superintendents with configuring of system modules, developing reports and data collection that support asset management procedures and processes.
    • Data Management and Analysis
    • Oversee the collection, management and analysis of asset data to support decision-making. Implement and manage asset management software systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
    • Perform data-driven evaluations to prioritize maintenance, repairs and capital improvement projects.
    • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work with internal departments, consultants and external agencies to coordinate asset management initiatives.
    • Collaborate with all City departments to ensure alignment between asset strategies, operational activities and program goals and priorities.
    • Serve as the principal trainer and point of contact for work and asset computer applications. Develop training materials and reference guides for employees.
    • Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards and guidelines for public works infrastructure.
    • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential asset failures and service disruptions.
    • Drives City and/or personal vehicle to perform essential functions of position.

    Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geography, public administration, business management, environmental studies or related field, plus 2-3 years asset management, GIS, public works or infrastructure management, OR High School diploma or G.E.D. plus 5-6 years experience in asset management, GIS, public works or infrastructure management.

    Environmental and Physical Factors

    This position requires the ability to collect asset information in an outdoor setting. The position will frequently require the ability to traverse and work on uneven terrain and in various weather conditions. Mobility is also required to work at computer stations located throughout the City. Other requirements include the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity and accommodation to review alpha/numeric data.

    Compensation & Benefits

    Compensation range is $71,705 to $83,216 dependent on qualifications and directly related experience. In addition to competitive compensation packages, the City of Lenexa offers comprehensive benefits including:

    POSITION SUMMARY

    A Lincoln Electric System GIS Technician is responsible for performing daily updates on the digital electric distribution model/(GIS) as well as working in the field to verify GIS data for accuracy and completeness.     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Update and Maintain: perform edits using ArcMap to create new point - polyline features and corresponding electrical and life cycle attribute data of assets within the electric distribution system map. 
    • Data Entry and Conversion: interrupt, extract and collect data to input into GIS from various sources like SAP work management, written text, email, CAD drawings, sketches and verbal communication.
    • Field Verification: perform field verification and equipment labeling of energized electrical distribution system for quality control of GIS attribute data, location and network model connectivity.
    • After LES verified knowledge and safety training has occurred, these duties require the opening and inspection of energized, high-voltage electrical equipment or entering electrical substations.
    • Documentation: Read technical drawings and compare the as-built configuration to the field.  Create red-line updates on as-built prints and other technical documents with current system configuration or track changes from the original designs.
    • Collaboration: work with field personnel, system operations and designers to ensure accurate modeling of electric utility infrastructure as it is being constructed, inspected or repaired.
    • QAQC: follow quality assurance and quality control process, use QAQC tools and perform routine data management tasks with accuracy, integrity and completeness.
    • Compliance: adhere to safety rules and proper use of PPE, following standards and job duties assigned.
    • Storm Support: assist with crisis/emergency situations, when necessary.
